Aesthetics as a Philosophical and Theological Space in the St. Francis of St. Bonaventure’s Major Legend

This paper demonstrates that the figure of St. Francis Assisi, as expounded by Bonaventure in his work Legenda Major (Major Legend), cannot be understood without certain philosophical and theological keys. Following an expository methodology, we point to Saint a aesthetic model. In this sense, focus on five characterisations found Legend, introducing their meaning, well significance Bonaventure. We refer contemplator nature, lover poverty, imitator crucified Christ, brother humankind Lord’s knight minstrel, conclude model Francis, Bonaventure, can only starting from (mystical) ascension.
